What is a windshield repair?
Windshield repair is a process where air is removed from the damaged area and a clear structural resin is injected and then cured with a ultra violet light. The damaged area is repaired restoring the strength and most of the clarity to the previously damaged area. Similar to snowflakes no two repairs are the same and the results may vary.
What kind of damages can be repaired?
Stone damage or stone "chips" up to the size of a quarter, as long as the impact point is not larger than the repair aperture, the examples to the left are good candidates for repair. It is best to repair the damage right away, before contamination occurs from road grime or dirt. We cannot perform a windshield repair on a previously attempted repair.
What does a repair cost?
The average cost to repair a windshield is $79.95 In some cases your insurance company may waive your deductible and the repair ends up costing you nothing.
Can cracks be repaired?
PGI does not endorse or perform long crack repair. We believe once a chip spreads replacement is the best option. Unlike successful chip repairs which usually leave a small scar, successfully repaired cracks leave a very noticeable line where the crack was filled. Since there is very little or no air trapped in a crack the finished results are not very impressive. Most consumers end up opting for replacement.
